the system

What Is RS Rapid Flake?

RS Rapid Flake is a decorative resin flooring system that is bonded directly to a suitable concrete slab. The existing concrete is mechanically prepared, a pigmented rapid-cure base coat is applied, decorative flake is broadcast until the floor is fully covered, and a protective clear topcoat seals the finished surface.

The result is one continuous garage floor with no grout lines or loose tile edges. The decorative flake adds depth and texture, helps disguise everyday dust and minor marks, and gives the garage a cleaner, more finished appearance than bare or painted concrete.

Once the flake layer has hardened, the loose flake is scraped off and a clear topcoat seals everything in.

While the base coat is still wet, thousands of small coloured flakes are scattered across it until the floor is completely covered.

We start by mechanically grinding the concrete slab to remove old coatings and contaminants. Grinding also helps us achieve the right concrete profile for the resin to bond to.

one day installation

What Does a One-Day Garage Floor Actually Mean?

For suitable garages, the coating stages can be completed within a single working day. That means less disruption, less time with the garage emptied out and a faster path back to using the space.

One-day installation does not mean the floor is ready for vehicle traffic that evening. The coating still needs to cure. Foot traffic and vehicle return times depend on the exact specification, slab conditions and temperature, and PITLANE Surfaces confirms those timings before installation.

How Can RS Rapid Flake Be Installed So Quickly?

The speed comes from the rapid-curing coating system, not from skipping preparation. Each coating stage hardens faster than a standard resin system, allowing the base coat, flake and protective topcoat to follow one another within the same working day where conditions are suitable.

The concrete preparation remains just as important. PITLANE Surfaces still assesses the slab, mechanically prepares the surface and treats suitable cracks or defects before coating. If your floor needs extensive repair, moisture mitigation or extra preparation, we will not rush those steps simply to call it a one-day installation.

Blend and sheen

Make the Floor Yours: Choose the Blend

RS Rapid Flake is not a one-look system. Every flake floor we install has a full broadcast finish, meaning maximum flake coverage for a bold, stone-like look that hides everyday marks best.

Choose Your Flake Blend

Choose from 42 PowerCOAT flake blends, ranging from darker tones such as Obsidian, Raven and Carbon to warmer neutrals such as Mushroom, Sandstone and Weathered Gray, plus blues such as Smokey Blue and Tidal Wave.

Darker and busier blends tend to disguise dust, tire marks and minor scuffs best. Lighter blends can make the garage feel brighter and more open. Physical samples are recommended because colours can look different under your garage lighting than they do on screen.

Preparation first

How PITLANE Surfaces Installs RS Rapid Flake

Correct preparation is the single biggest factor in how long a resin floor lasts. RS Rapid Flake is a professional resin flooring system, not paint rolled over an existing garage floor — and the preparation stage is what makes this floor stand out from a box-store DIY kit.

The concrete
01Assess
We inspect the slab — its general condition, moisture risks, any existing coatings, contamination, cracks and defects.
02Prepare
The concrete is mechanically prepared to create the right surface profile for the coating to bond to.
03Repair
Suitable cracks, defects and damaged areas are treated as agreed for your project.
The coating
04Base coat + flake
The pigmented rapid-cure base coat is applied, followed by a full broadcast of decorative flake.
05Scrape + prepare
Once cured, excess flake is removed and the surface is prepared to the required texture and consistency.
06Protective topcoat
A fast-curing protective clear topcoat completes and seals the system.

Pitlane vs DIY

Why PITLANE Surfaces Is Different From a DIY Epoxy Kit

A DIY kit gives you materials. PITLANE Surfaces gives you the finished floor. That includes the assessment, mechanical preparation, agreed crack and defect repair, coating application, flake broadcast, detailing and final handover.

The biggest difference is preparation. Resin coatings rely on a strong bond to the concrete, and poor preparation is one of the most common reasons a garage coating lifts or fails early. With PITLANE, the system is selected and installed for your actual slab rather than leaving you to work it out from a box.

Warranty

Backed by a 10-Year Limited Residential Warranty

RS Rapid Flake installations are backed by PITLANE's 10-year limited residential warranty, giving you added confidence in the quality of the installation.

The warranty covers adhesion and installation-related failures when the system is installed over an approved, properly prepared concrete surface. Coverage is subject to PITLANE's full warranty terms, substrate requirements, care requirements and exclusions.

Easy to Live With,
Easy to Maintain

Routine care is simple: sweep, vacuum or mop the floor as needed. The protective topcoat is designed to handle everyday garage abrasion and suitable chemicals, and common spills are easier to clean when they are dealt with promptly.

PITLANE provides care guidance at handover, with full aftercare information available on the Warranty and Care page.

Outdoors

Can RS Rapid Flake Be Used Outside?

RS Rapid Flake is primarily designed for garages. Some other concrete areas may be suitable, but exterior projects have different requirements for UV exposure, weather, moisture, temperature and slip resistance.

For patios, driveways, pool decks and other outdoor areas in Greater Victoria, PITLANE Surfaces assesses the application individually and may recommend an RX exterior surfacing system instead.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About RS Rapid Flake

Have questions about RS Rapid Flake? Find the answers below, or contact PITLANE Surfaces to find out whether your garage is suitable for a one-day installation.

Can you install a garage floor in 1 day?

Yes, where the concrete and site conditions allow it. RS Rapid Flake uses a rapid-curing resin specification that lets the coating stages follow one another within a single working day. Suitability is confirmed before the installation is booked.

Is a one-day garage floor as good as a two-day floor?

Both systems are professionally prepared and installed, and both use the same 42 flake blends with a full flake broadcast. The main differences are the coating specification, installation time and warranty period. RS Rapid Flake carries a 10-year limited residential warranty, and RS Premium Flake carries a 15-year limited residential warranty.

What does full flake coverage mean?

Full flake coverage means decorative flake is broadcast over the pigmented base coat until none of the base colour shows through. This gives the boldest, stone-like appearance and hides dust, tire marks and minor scuffs best.

Is RS Rapid Flake a polyaspartic floor?

RS Rapid Flake uses a PowerCOAT rapid-curing resin. Polyaspartic is one type of fast-curing resin used in garage coatings. During your free on-site assessment, we can confirm the most suitable resin for your garage.

How much does a one-day garage floor cost in Greater Victoria?

Pricing depends on the size of the garage, the condition of the concrete and the preparation required. PITLANE provides a fixed project price after assessing the floor rather than relying on a generic square-foot rate that may change once the work starts.

How is this different from a DIY epoxy kit?

A DIY kit supplies the coating materials. PITLANE supplies the completed floor, including assessment, mechanical preparation, agreed repairs, coating application, flake broadcast, detailing and project-specific warranty terms.

Can you install over an existing painted or coated floor?

Existing paint, coatings and sealers need to be mechanically removed before the new resin system is installed. This is to ensure that the new floor will properly bond with the concrete surface, preventing lift, bubbling and peeling soon after it's been installed.

What if my garage floor is damp?

Moisture moving through a slab can affect the bond of a resin coating. PITLANE checks for moisture during the assessment and may recommend extra preparation, mitigation or a non-bonded system such as GT Gridtrack if that is the better fit.

Do you work outside Greater Victoria?

Our primary focus is Victoria and surrounding Vancouver Island communities, together with selected projects across Greater Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.
